Comm Comm UK has worked with Notting Hill Genesis since we first opened our doors in 2013. Our latest project together delivered a successful Residents’ Ballot (86% in favour) for estate renewal and a planning application is now being considered by London Borough of Barnet.

Our role:

  • Public consultation for resident ballot

  • Public consultation for estate regeneration planning application.

Existing site:

  • Post-war housing estate in Mill Hill, consisting of 143 homes, including 132 flats which were formerly army barracks

  • Several blocks are now suffering from subsidence and feasibility work concluded the best approach would involve the demolition of existing properties and replacement with new homes.

Scheme deliverables:

  • Demolition of existing homes and building of 320 new homes, including social rented, shared ownership and private sale

  • Improvements to children’s play areas, social spaces and greater biodiversity.

Communications undertaken:

  • Consulting with residents on the option to regenerate the estate ahead of a residents’ ballot (required by GLA) including three rounds of consultation

  • Impressive 87% of residents agreed with the proposals

  • Organise and attend weekly drop-in surgeries

  • Organise and attend monthly resident consultation events

  • Attend monthly Resident Steering Group meetings

  • Produce monthly newsletters

  • Facilitate workshops on key themes (landscaping, naming)

  • Manage Commonplace website

  • Organise site visits to a nearby NHG scheme

  • Liaise with the appointed ITLA

  • Produce final public consultation event in December

    2024.

Status of scheme:

  • Successful residents ballot

  • Application due to be submitted in Spring 2025.
