South East Faversham
Client: The Duchy of Cornwall
Borough: Swale, Kent
Date: 2022-present
In 2022, Comm Comm UK was appointed by the Duchy of Cornwall to undertake community consultation and stakeholder engagement activities relating to its plans to create a new neighbourhood of 2,500 in Faversham, Kent.
The neighbourhood, known as 'South East Faversham,' is a significant project of national importance, epitomising the essence of 'building beautifully.'
The aim of the project is to address housing shortages in Faversham and the surrounding area by providing beautiful, high-quality, and affordable homes, as well as jobs, shops, work and leisure spaces, new educational facilities, and green space for everyone to enjoy.
Comm Comm UK has helped the Duchy of Cornwall amplify and shape key messages around the proposals, communicating the value the project can bring to Faversham, surrounding villages, and the people who live there.
In November 2022, Comm Comm UK organised and coordinated two public exhibition events in Faversham, providing an opportunity for the community to view proposals and provide feedback.
The team also facilitated an online questionnaire, providing insight into local views relating to the proposals and housebuilding in general. These activities helped us gain key unique insights from local people and address concerns and questions around the scheme
The planning application was submitted to Swale Borough Council in Spring 2024 and is waiting for a committee date. Comm Comm UK are continuing to work with the Duchy of Cornwall to respond to planning comments, address mis-information and promote the benefits of the scheme to the local community.
