The City of London Corporation appointed Comm Comm UK to manage construction communications for its development within York Way Estate, Islington. The project, currently underway, will deliver 91 new homes for social rent across four buildings, along with a new community centre and extensive public realm improvements.
As construction is taking place near the homes of current residents, careful communication and engagement have been key. Comm Comm UK has worked closely with the City of London Corporation and construction contractor Higgins Partnerships from the outset. The initial phase included thorough consultation with residents, featuring regular meetings and an event to gather feedback on important aspects, such as the construction management plan.
As the project progresses, Comm Comm UK continues to lead the communication strategy, offering advice to Higgins Partnerships’ resident liaison officer and assisting the City of London Corporation with various community initiatives. These include naming the new buildings and organising a hoarding display that showcases local residents' artwork and memories, as well as a historical timeline of the site, once home to the Metropolitan Cattle Market. Comm Comm UK also coordinates key events, such as topping-out ceremonies and site tours.
In addition to these efforts, Comm Comm UK runs the project website, ensuring residents and stakeholders can access updates and other vital information. Regular updates are also communicated via email to residents, key stakeholders, and local ward councillors, ensuring transparency and engagement at every stage.
Comm Comm UK continues to support the York Way Estate Office in addressing the needs of current residents during construction, with the project expected to be completed in 2025.
